How do intimate stimulants work?
Intimate stimulants work through two main mechanisms: local vasodilation, a slight increase in blood flow to erogenous zones, and nerve ending stimulation via hot, cold, or mildly sensitizing active ingredients (menthol, L-arginine, niacin). Clitoral gels, such as those from Bijoux Indiscrets, produce an effect felt within 2 to 5 minutes of application; lidocaine-based delay sprays clinically reduce penile sensitivity by 30 to 50% according to studies, thereby prolonging intercourse.
Libido supplements in capsule form (the Cobeco Pharma Venicon range) rely instead on adaptogenic ingredients like ginseng, maca, and zinc, the effects of which are cumulative after several days of use. Orgasmic serums and delay chewing gums (Wug Delay), on the other hand, target a specific, session-by-session action.
The different types of stimulants
- Topical gels and serums: Applied directly to the clitoris, penis, or breasts, they act locally within minutes. Compatible with most condoms depending on the chosen formula.
- Ejaculation delay sprays: Contain a mild anesthetic (lidocaine or benzocaine) that temporarily reduces sensitivity. Apply 10 to 15 minutes before intercourse and rinse if necessary.
- Capsule supplements: Oral formulas based on plants or micronutrients, designed for long-term libido support. They do not replace medical supervision.
- Breast and penis stimulating care: Creams and serums from the RUF brand, formulated to activate local circulation and enhance sensitivity in targeted areas during massage.
How to choose the right intimate stimulant
- According to the goal: Immediate action (topical gel, spray) or long-term support (capsules); the intention determines the format.
- According to material compatibility: Check if the product is latex-compatible before using it with an accessory or condom; some oil-based gels degrade latex.
- According to skin sensitivity: In case of reactive skin, prefer paraben-free and fragrance-free formulas, and always perform a patch test on a small area before application.
- According to solo or duo practice: A clitoral gel can be used alone or during intercourse; a delay spray benefits the penetrating partner but may require rinsing to protect the receptive partner.
- According to dosage: Libido supplements require regular intake (often 1 to 2 capsules per day for 4 to 6 weeks); do not exceed the indicated dose and consult a doctor if you are currently undergoing treatment.
